Central government jobs list: who recruits

Most central government jobs are filled through a few recruitment bodies. The Staff Selection Commission recruits Group B and C staff for ministries and central forces through exams such as CGL (graduate level), CHSL (12th level), MTS (10th level) and GD Constable. The Railway Recruitment Boards recruit for the Indian Railways through centralised employment notices (CENs) for NTPC, Group D, Assistant Loco Pilot, Junior Engineer and other posts. UPSC recruits Group A officers and runs NDA, CDS and CAPF exams. IBPS runs common recruitment for public sector banks and regional rural banks, while SBI and RBI recruit on their own.

Central armed police forces such as the CRPF also run their own recruitments, for example sports-quota drives, and central public sector enterprises such as the Central Warehousing Corporation or BHEL advertise on their own careers pages.
